REP. ANTHONY WEINER: SUPREME COURT NOMINEE MUST SEEK “COMMON GROUND”
Washington, DC – Today, Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor announced that she is stepping down. Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-Queens & Brooklyn), a Member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement:
“The president has a choice now whether he divides the country or whether he unifies us. A right wing ideologue is exactly what this country does not need right now as we seek to find common ground on the challenging legal issues that confront the court.
“As a member of the judiciary committee I understand that this is a decision that will have generational implications on the future our country. We cannot tolerate further radicalization of the federal judiciary.”
