New York City - Rep. Anthony Weiner (D - Brooklyn & Queens) today called on President Bush to reject the GOP “Demagogue Caucus” and to adopt a “fair and balanced” approach to the nation's immigration policies.
“President Bush will stand up for the radical wing of his party tonight in a speech designed, not to solve our country's immigration issues, but rather to fix the President's political problems.
“The country needs real, long-term solutions to secure our borders, not another public relations quick fix. I call on Bush to reject the GOP “Demagogue Caucus” and stand up for a balanced, comprehensive approach to immigration reform.
“While stricter enforcement is essential at our porous borders with Mexico, it's equally important that we strike the right balance of incentives and penalties to put undocumented workers on a tough path to earned citizenship.”
