QUEENS 8th GRADERS TO GIVE REPS. WEINER, MEEKS POP QUIZ!
Queens, NY - Reps. Anthony Weiner (D-Queens & Brooklyn) and Gregory Meeks (D- Queens) have faced off with some of New York City’s most grizzled reporters, but nothing may have prepared them for what’s coming up next: thirty 8th graders who won’t take no for an answer. This week, Weiner and Meeks will be interviewed by students from MS 180 for a television program produced by Community School District 27.
"Conversation in Progress" is a television program that airs on Queens Public Television, the Department of Education’s WNYE, and the Manhattan Neighborhood Network. What makes it unusual is that it’s produced by and features students from SD 27.
This Thursday, Weiner and Meeks will appear on the program to explain and answer questions about how Congress works. The inquisitors? An audience of 30 eager 8th graders from MS 180. And that’s not all: production of the episode will be managed by MS 202's student video crew!
"We all learned a long time ago that if you’re going to stand up in front of the whole class you better be prepared, so I’m looking forward to some tough questions," said Rep. Weiner. "This is one civics quiz that I’m very happy to take."
