I commend your efforts to eliminate spam. I do not appreciate being bombarded with email promoting pornography, enlargement of various body parts, medicine, or financing. However, although I receive approximately one hundred emails a day, of which I am only interested in ten or fifteen, I would not want those emails that I am interested in to be blocked. I do not mind that email newsletters contain advertisements or solicitations for products or services that I am interested in, or even promotions for other suppliers of those products by affiliates. In many cases, I consider such emails to be doing me a service by creating an awareness that such products are available. Please be careful that in your effort to eliminate the undesirable, you do not destroy the benefits of what can be and has been a very useful tool for business and the economy. Most of the rule making that I have seen so far has only made it difficult for legitimate enterprises to conduct business, while the spammers continue to circumvent efforts to suppress them. Sincerely, Thomas Elliott
