National Hydrography Dataset - NHD - ArcIMS

Content Summary: The National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) is a feature-based database that interconnects and uniquely identifies the sream segments or reaches that comprise the nation's surface water drainage system. Medium resolution NHD is based on the content of the U.S. Geological Survey 1:100,000-scale Digital Line Graph (DLG) hydrography data, integrated with reach-related information from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Reach File Version 3.0 (RF3). More specifically, it contains reach codes for networked features and isolated lakes, flow direction, names, stream level, and centerline representations for areal water bodies. Reaches are also defined to represent water bodies and the approximate shorelines of the Great Lakes, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the Gulf of Mexico. The NHD also incorporates the National Spatial Data Infrastructure framework criteria established by the Federal Geographic Data Committee.

Hydrologic Units of the United States Image Service

Content Summary: This image service contains hydrologic unit boundaries and codes for the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We have also included the following reference map layers from the National Atlas of the United States in this service: State boundaries, State capitals, streams and waterbodies, a latitude/longitude grid, and a background layer showing land and water areas.

Content Summary: This dataset is a S-57 Inland Electronic Navigational Chart (IENC) developed under contract for the U.S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). This dataset was produced by converting existing USACE data to the S-57 IENC format. This dataset is based on the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) S-57 IENC Product Specification. THE GIS DATA SHAPEFILES ARE NOT TO BE USED FOR NAVIGATION!!!

Content Summary: The Fish and Wildlife Service's seamless national wetlands geodatabase is based on wetland maps delineating type, size and location of the wetlands and deepwater habitats in the United States. These maps are prepared from the analysis in conjunction with collateral data sources and field work. The maps represent reconnaissance level information on the location, type, size of wetlands habitats such that they are accurate at the nominal scale of the 1:24,000 base map, and the 1:63,360 base map for Alaska. There is a margin error inherent in the use of imagery, thus detailed on-the-ground inspection of any particular site, may result in revision of the wetland boundaries or classifications established through image analysis.
