- The U.S. Trustee Program has extended the temporary waiver of the debtor education requirement for bankruptcy filers in the Eastern District of Louisiana due to the continued effects of Hurricane Katrina.

The U.S. Trustee Program has terminated the waivers of the debtor education requirement for bankruptcy filers in the Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana and the Southern District of Mississippi. Individuals filing for bankruptcy relief on or after March 10, 2008, in these three districts are required to fulfill the debtor education requirement in order to receive a bankruptcy discharge.
