10:30 a.m., Cuthbert, Albany Technical College Adult Literacy Center, 109 Court Street, to tour the facilities and receive briefing on their efforts to promote literacy in Southwest Georgia;

10:45 a.m., Cuthbert, Millenium Center, U.S. 82 East, to tour the facilities and receive briefing on the program to treat women residents who suffer from substance abuse;

11:00 a.m., Cuthbert, Even Start (Head Start) sites, Andrews Street, to tour the facilities and receive briefing on early childhood education initiatives;

11:15 a.m., Cuthbert, West Georgia Housing Consortium, Blakely Street, to tour the facilities and receive briefing on housing initiatives in the 2nd Congressional District;

11:30 a.m., Cuthbert, Nannie Lou Jenkins Day Care Center, Andrews Street, to tour the facilities and receive briefing on federal government resources to day care centers in Southwest Georgia.

11:45 a.m., Cuthbert, Educational Opportunities Center at Andrew College, 413 Church Street, to tour the facilities and receive briefing on the mission of the program;

12:00 p.m., Cuthbert, Andrew College, 413 Church Street, lunch meeting with local elected officials to hear the needs and concerns of the citizens of Randolph County;

2:00 p.m., Columbus, House of Mercy, 1532 Third Avenue, with Congressman Mac Collins, to present check, the proceeds of which came from the 17th Annual African American History Program held in February, 2003.

11:00 a.m., Albany, Albany State University Ronald Brown International Trade Center, 504 College Drive, meeting with Dr. Rita Colwell, Executive Director of the National Science Foundation, university and college presidents and superintendents from Southwest Georgia schools (Georgia Southwestern State University, Albany State University, Darton College, Columbus State University, Andrew College, Columbus Technical College, Valdosta State University, Valdosta Technical College, Southwest Georgia Technical College, Thomas University, Moultrie Technical College, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, South Georgia Technical College, and Albany Technical College), and representatives from Dougherty County School System, Lee County School System, Terrell County School System, Mitchell-Baker County School System, to discuss ways in which these entities can tap into resources that are available through the National Science Foundation.

10:30, a.m., Thomasville, Radio interview with Mark Brannon of WPAX, 117 Remington Avenue, to give an update of legislative issues in the 1st Session of the 108th Congress;

12:00 p.m., Thomasville, Dunbar Restaurant, 1984 Smith Avenue, meeting with area ministers to discuss issues of concern to the ministerial association;

2:00 p.m., Thomasville, Thomasville Area Chamber of Commerce, 401 South Broad Street, meeting with local Chamber officials and other business leaders, to discuss pending legislative issues of concern to the business community;

3:00 p.m., Thomasville, Fannie Mae Housing Event (Wood Valley Apartments), 1325 Warner Street, to speak (keynote) about the completion of the renovation of the Wood Valley Apartments that was financed under the HUD 236 program. The HUD 236 program subsidizes the interest payments on mortgages for rental or cooperative housing owned by private nonprofit or limited-profit landlords servicing low-income tenants.
