University System of Georgia Chief Academic Officer Susan Herbst announced that Dr. Thomas J. (Tim) Hynes Jr., provost and vice president for academic affairs at UWG, has been appointed to serve as interim president of Clayton State University, effective June 1, 2009.

Governor Sonny Perdue greeted more than 50 campus representatives including Dr. Michael Ruffner, vice president for university advancement, and Dr. Beheruz N. Sethna, UWG president. Groups of students then visited with their local representatives.
