Division 1 reports ranks men’s and women’s teams in the top ten.
The return of basketball to Talladega College continues to be a successful move. In addition to some high profile wins, both the men’s and women’s teams are receiving national recognition.
The
men’s team has been ranked number one in the nation according to the 2008-2009
USCAA Division 1 report released this month. The team which is led by head basketball coach and athletic director
Matt Cross beat out other schools such as Oakwood
College in Huntsville,
Shorter College,
and Southern Virginia to gain the top spot.
“This is a team that doesn’t mind putting in hard work,” Cross said. “They understand that to win as a team, they must play as a team.
In that same Division 1 report, the Lady Tornadoes ranked 9th in the nation; beating out schools in Kentucky, New York, Florida, and Alabama. For the team’s coach Romeo Lag may, it’s a victory that’s only going to get better.
