Protecting Vermont’s Groundwater: Annette Smith, executive director of Vermonters for a Cleaner Environment will lecture on the state of our groundwater and share information about the role citizen-activists play in the protection of our vital resources.

Reading from Thin Places: Ann Armbrecht, Montpelier-based author, reading from and in conversation about her recently released book, Thin Places: A Pilgrimage Home. The book tells of Armbrecht’s anthropological fieldwork in Nepal and her discovery that it is people’s close connections to each other that make places sacred. (Refreshments and book signing to follow.)

The Northern Forest Canoe Trail: The Northern Forest Canoe Trail traverses 740 miles of contiguous streams and lakes in New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Québec and Maine following historic Native American routes. Kate Williams, executive director of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, will describe the re-establishment of this historic waterway as well as her experiences paddling it.
