| | Flutist to present guest recital Katherine Calvey, principal flutist in the State Philharmonic of Chihuahua, Mexico, will present a guest recital at Northwestern’s Christ Chapel on Monday, Jan. 19. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., and there is no admission fee. Calvey’s recital will feature a variety of Latin American, French and American pieces.
| | | | | | Musical about African-American women presented Tuesday "Daughters of Africa," an energetic musical performance encompassing three centuries in the lives of African-American women, will be performed at NWC on the evening of Barack Obama's inauguration by Mixed Blood Theatre. The production features songs from Bessie Smith to Aretha Franklin and Lena Horne to Beyoncé.
| | | | | | Madrigal dinners to be presented Jan. 22-24 The Northwestern College Heritage Singers will present madrigal dinners Jan. 22-24 at 7 p.m. in Vermeer Dining Room. The dinners, representing a 16th-century medieval feast, will feature a traditional English masque, “The Royal Wedding.” The masque will be followed by a concert of serious and comic madrigals.
