Wendee Brunish

Seismic Applications

Wendee Brunish, deputy group leader of GEO/EES-11, has been a technical staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratory since 1984. Wendee is currently the team leader for Geodynamics and National Security in the Geophysics Group in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Division. Her expertise is in explosion phenomenology and the containment of underground nuclear tests. After receiving her A.B. in physics at Vassar College in 1975, Wendee pursued graduate studies in astrophysics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was awarded her M. S. in 1977, and her Ph. D. in 1981. Wendee did postdoctoral research at the University of Southern California before joining the Laboratory.

Wendee also has been a member of the Laboratory Women's Committee and was the first chair of the Employee Advisory Committee. She headed the successful effort to establish an Ombuds Office at the Lab. Wendee is a long-time member of LAWIS, participating regularly in the annual Expanding Your Horizons conference. Wendee is active in the community, founding a very active volunteer program at the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter, as well as being involved in Search and Rescue for the past sixteen years.
