NOTICE OF OPENING


Applications for “Hydrological Technician for the Panama Canal Ecosystems Services Project in Agua Salud” will be accepted effective immediately.

Location of Position: Earl Tupper Center, Ancon, Panamá

Major duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent of this position assists in technical support of professional or technical employees engaged in hydrologic data collection activities or chemical analysis of water samples in a laboratory.

Collects surface water, rain water, soil water and groundwater samples from gagging stations, lysimeters, wells, or other water-quality monitoring stations in difficult terrain. Downloads data from field instrumentation, and verifies data quality using redundant field measurements. Transfers data downloaded in the field to computer data bases. Prepares simple tables, and graphs. Performs field analysis of water samples to determine specified sediment or chemical concentrations or physical characteristics. Helps installs, maintain and service a variety of sensing, recording and communications equipment and instrumentation. Performs routine mapping in the field using a GPS and transfers these data into a GIS. Operates a project motor vehicle as an incidental driver.
