The new Frost Art Museum opened on November 29, 2008 with the traveling exhibition,
Modern Masters from the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The exhibition features 43 key
paintings and sculptures by 31 of the most celebrated artists who came to maturity in the 1950s.
Five of the works of art were donated to SAAM from the private collection of Patricia and Phillip Frost.
Modern Masters will travel to at least five venues through 2011, including the
Telfair Museum of Art, a Smithsonian Affiliate in Savannah, Georgia.
