Environmental Education

Learn about the cultural heritage, unique resources and spectacular geology found within the boundaries of the Red River Gorge Geological Area and Clifty Wilderness. Various interpretive exhibits provide a glimpse into the past and convey the wild, natural beauty that visitors seek today when entering the Gorge. 

The Gladie Cultural-Environmental Learning Center is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m until November 9. Beginning November 10, the Center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Trail, camping and other information is available at the center. The public may purchase maps and passes. 

Directions: From Interstate 64, take exit 98 to the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway. From the parkway, take exit 33 (Slade) and turn left onto KY 11. To access Gladie through Nada Tunnel, turn left onto KY 15, travel 1.5 miles west and turn right onto KY 77. Follow 77 to KY 715 and turn right. Stay on 715 and follow the signs to Gladie.

To access Gladie past Sky Bridge, turn right onto KY 15 from KY 11. Travel east approximately five miles and turn left onto KY 715. Stay on 715 and you’ll find Gladie after several miles on the left.
