International Finance and Monetary Organizations |
As a senior Democrat on the Financial
Services Subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade and
Technology, I am responsible for overseeing the United States’
participation in international monetary and finance organizations. These
include the Multilateral Development Banks, Multilateral Financial
Institutions, the International Monetary Fund, and the Export- Import Bank of
the United States,
among others. In the 109th Congress, this Subcommittee worked closely with the
Small Business Committee to produce a bipartisan bill, which passed the House,
to reauthorize the Export- Import Bank while providing further direction to the
Bank to reinforce its mandate to support small business. We also conducted
hearings on the United States’
role in the International Development Association, in the wake of the historic
agreement of the G-8 to forgive the debts of some of the world’s poorest
countries, and on the U.S.
role in the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
