WorkforceUSA.net has just posted information on its site describing an
interesting sector partnership among employers, organized labor, and
community groups in Mississippi. The Transitions to Shipbuilding
newsletter describes The Rust Machine Operator Transitional Pilot Work
Program. This project is a partnership between Northrop Grumman Ship
Systems, CARES of Mississippi, the Mississippi Department of
Rehabilitation Services, and the Gulf Coast Shipbuilding Partnership as
well as public high schools in George and Jackson County, Mississippi.
This initiative will test methods of recruiting, screening, hiring, and
training young adults with learning disabilities into entry-level high
paying jobs within the shipbuilding industry. The newsletter provides
contact information and more detail on the project. It can be found at
http://www.caresms.org/transition%20newletter.htm. More information on
sector projects can be found at www.workforceusa.net by clicking on sector
in the strategy search section.
