Moore to promote free tax assistance for eligible individuals

Community effort ensures working families get access to financial resources

(KANSAS CITY, KAN.) - Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District -- Kansas) will join community leaders at a news conference at 11a.m. on Saturday, February, 5th, 2005, at Kansas City Kansas Community College to promote free tax assistance for eligible individuals.

Individuals with household incomes of less than $36,000 can find out if they qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit and receive free tax assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program at Kansas City Kansas Community College. Information about the nine VITA sites in the Kansas City area is available by calling (816) 474-5112.

Kansas City Kansas Community College houses a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site that serves individuals with household incomes of less than $36,000. Free tax preparation is available at KCKCC on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon, and Wednesday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
