Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that three area fire departments have received Assistance to Firefighters grants through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program.
"Firefighters respond to a variety of emergencies, and each of them is dangerous," said Costello. "Maintaining properly trained and equipped departments is a national priority and this program is helping to accomplish that goal."
