Moore welcomes new legislative staff

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District – Kansas) today announced the hiring of Rose Avellino as Legislative Correspondent in his Washington, D.C., office. Avellino is responsible for responding to constituent letters, faxes, phone calls and e-mails, as well as ensuring Kansans receive a speedy response to their inquiries.

“I am so pleased that Rose has taken on this new role,” Moore said. “She has an impressive background, including experience in the private sector, and I’m pleased that she’s chosen to enter public service.”

A native of Manchester, Missouri, Avellino received a B.A. in philosophy, with a minor in political science, from Vanderbilt University in 1997 and earned her law degree from St. Louis University in 2000.

Prior to joining Moore's staff, Avellino worked as an Associate Attorney with Beckett & Hensley, L.C., and served as a Judicial Law Clerk for The Honorable Thomas C. Clark, both in Kansas City, Missouri. She also served as an intern in Moore’s Washington, D.C., office in the fall of 2005, during which she was instrumental in the development and writing of the Teri Zenner Memorial Social Worker Safety bill, a resolution Congressman Moore introduced to raise awareness about the importance of social worker and case worker safety.

“It is an honor to join such an incredible team,” Avellino said. “It’s always been a dream of mine to work on Capitol Hill. I look forward to working with Congressman Moore and the rest of his staff to assist the people of Kansas’ Third District.”

Avellino is based in the Congressman’s Washington, D.C., office, 1727 Longworth House Office Building, Washington, D.C., 20515. The office phone number is (202) 225-2865, and the fax is (202) 225-2807.
