Moore announces over 2 million in federal funding for Head Start program

(WASHINGTON, DC) -- Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District -- Kansas) toured the Bryant Center on Friday to learn more about the Head Start program and to highlight $2,373,818 in federal funding for the Head Start program in Kansas City, KS.

“I’m so grateful to the staff and parents, for their dedication to educating children,” Moore said. “The Bryant Center is a wonderful place where kids can come not only to learn and play, but also to develop the skills they will need to be successful in the future. I congratulate all of our area Head Start centers on this well-deserved funding, as it will allow them to continue providing quality programming for our students.”

The grant, from the Department of Health and Human Services, will fund the Economic Opportunity Foundation’s full-time and part-time programming for a full year. Dorothy Harvey, director of the Head Start program in Kansas City, KS, will oversee the program.

“Early education is one of the most important services a community can provide,” Moore said. “Head Start programs have always done an excellent job of beginning our children on the path to success and this funding will help Kansas children continue to receive the care, attention, and early education opportunities they deserve.”
