Moore secures $6.37 million to improve KS Army Reserve facility

Project will update New Century Army Reserve Center

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District-KS) announced today the U.S. House gave final approval to $6,376,000 in federal funding to make improvements to the New Century Army Reserve facility in Johnson County.

“We need to honor the sacrifices of the men and women serving our country by ensuring our military training facilities are up to date,” Moore said. “This federal funding will enhance U.S. Army Reserve training conditions and improve the efficiency of maintenance activity at the New Century facility.”

The funding is included in H.R. 2528, the Military Quality of Life and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act for FY06. The bill is expected to be signed into law in the coming weeks.

The project includes the construction of a new Organizational Maintenance Shop (OMS) and Area Maintenance Support Activity (AMSA). The improved facilities will provide space for training and daily vehicle maintenance, including eight drive through bays that will support tank maintenance.
