Moore to announce transportation funding for Kansas City region

Program improves transportation to jobs for low-income workers

(KANSAS CITY) – Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District -- Kansas) will hold a news conference at the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) on January 10, 2005, to announce new federal funding for job access transportation in the Kansas City metropolitan area. MARC and representatives from other entities in the region’s Job Access Partnership will discuss transportation needs addressed by the Job Access and Reverse Commute program and how federal funding helps support services in the region.

WHAT: News conference to announce federal transportation funds for the region.

WHERE: MARC Conference Center, 600 Broadway, Suite 170, Kansas City, Mo.

WHEN: Monday, January 10, 2005, at 10 a.m.

WHO: Congressman Dennis Moore; Mell Henderson, MARC Director of Transportation; Stewart Nelson, MARC Transportation Planner; and representatives from the City of Olathe, Full Employment Council, Johnson County Transit, KCATA, OATS and Unified Government Transit.

WHY: Continued federal funding is needed to support the region’s Job Access and Reverse Commute program, which helps develop new transit service to transport low-income individuals to jobs, training, and child care, as well as transit service to transport the public to suburban job sites.
