Moore Votes to Support Our Troops

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District – Kansas) released the following statement regarding Friday’s vote on H.R. 1591, the U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans’ Health and Iraq Accountability Appropriations Act, in the House of Representatives:

“It is imperative that the U.S. move toward a new policy in Iraq. I am eager for our troops to redeploy and for the Iraqi people to take control of their own country. That’s why we must continue to fully support our troops while also setting clear guidelines regarding our continued presence in Iraq. The dedication and sacrifice of our servicemen and women on behalf of all of us warrants nothing less.

“The provisions in the supplemental don’t put a timeline on our troops – they provide an incentive for the Iraqi people to come together and take control of their country. I voted for this legislation because we must ensure the safety of our troops and our overall military strength, while calling on the Iraqis to stand up and face the internal political crisis in their country.”
