Using LINCS

The next session will begin May 7, 2003 and end June 4, 2003. Perhaps
you will have more time in the summer to concentrate on this course so
we also have another session set to begin July 2, 2003 and end July 30,
2003.

The course, conducted completely on-line, is designed exclusively for
adult education and literacy practitioners. Participants will learn to
efficiently use the Literacy Information and Communication System to
locate resources for instruction, administrative issues, and research.
Some of the features of LINCS that are highlighted include: the Calendar
of Events, Grants Search, Hot Sites, and Special Collections.

Using LINCS has been developed using the Blackboard course development
software; the convenient and easy-to-use website style of the Blackboard
course allows participants new to on-line learning adjust quickly to
this professional development environment. Assignments include joining a
class listserv, participating in group discussions, and searching the
LINCS system to answer a variety of questions related to adult education
and literacy.

This course is available free of charge to adult education and literacy
practitioners in the Eastern LINCS region.

required to complete quizzes, take an Internet scavenger hunt, create an
acceptable use policy, and develop a final lesson plan.
