WASHINGTON – In response to the release today of the Department of Defense (DoD) Inspector General (IG) Report on the Navy’s proposed implementation plans for the 2005 BRAC enhancements affecting China Lake, Congressman McCarthy issued the following statement:
“The Inspector General’s report highlights some of the problems that have caused the Department of Defense to reject the Navy’s proposed business plan for China Lake three times. The Navy’s plans must conform to the 2005 BRAC law. I appreciate the IG’s report because it highlights what I have been emphasizing with different Pentagon officials for a long time – there are, unfortunately, some in the Navy’s BRAC implementation process who are not committed to a plan that conforms to the law.
“I am pleased that DoD is committed to approving business plans that are consistent with the BRAC law, and I will continue to monitor the process and work with them toward that goal.”
