Rep. John Culberson Pro-Growth, Pro-Jobs Voting Record Honored by NAM

Engler says Votes Critical toward Future Economic Growth and Competitiveness

HOUSTON, Texas, October 25, 2006 — Recognizing his strong voting record in support of American manufacturing and a pro-growth, pro-jobs agenda during the 109th Congress, the National Association of Manufacturers today honored Rep. John Culberson (R-TX-07) with its Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence during a presentation hosted by McDermott International, Inc.

The NAM Award is presented to members of Congress who vote in the best interest of the manufacturing economy at least 70 percent of the time on Key Manufacturing Votes as designated by a special committee of NAM member companies, large and small. Rep. Culberson’s voting record was an outstanding 100 percent.

When presenting Rep. Culberson with his award, Bruce Wilkinson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of McDermott International Inc. said, “On behalf of all manufacturers and their employees in Texas’ 7th district, I offer Rep. Culberson our deep gratitude for his commitment to manufacturing in Texas as well as our nation’s manufacturing sector as a whole.”

From Washington, NAM President and former Michigan Governor John Engler added, “Culberson’s voting record demonstrates both his understanding of manufacturing’s critical role in the overall strength of our economy and a willingness to do what is necessary to boost competitiveness, job creation and prosperity for the working people of Texas.”

Key Manufacturing Votes for the 109th Congress included domestic energy supply, legal reform, free trade agreements, and tax policy, among others. NAM Key Vote Cards are delivered to members of Congress prior to floor action to signal that an upcoming scheduled floor vote has been selected as a potential NAM Key Manufacturing Vote.

Voting records for all members of Congress, including those who scored 70 percent or better to earn an NAM Award, are available at www.nam.org/votingrecord along with further details about the Key Manufacturing Votes.
