LANL: Bradbury Science Museum

Planning Your Visit

Most visitors spend between one and a half and two hours at the Museum, although many mention they wish they had allowed more time. The exhibits and science demonstrations are geared for school-age children through adults. The building is accessible to those with special needs, and assisted listening devices or captions are available for most films. Admission is free.

The Museum is located in the center of downtown Los Alamos. Within walking distance of the Museum are book stores, restaurants, gift shops, art galleries, motels, pharmacies, a shopping center, the public library, and the historic center of Los Alamos. The historic center includes the Los Alamos Historical Museum and Fuller Lodge, the town's community center and a national historical landmark.

Nearby area attractions include Bandelier National Monument (site of ancient Native American ruins) and the Valles Caldera National Preserve. The Jemez Mountains offer many opportunities for winter and summer sports, hiking, and scenic touring. Los Alamos is about 40 minutes from Santa Fe and an hour and 50 minutes from Albuquerque.
