Revisit User Fee Program

The Revisit User Fee Program is in effect for revisit surveys conducted on September 19, 2007 through December 25, 2007. Revisit surveys completed on or after December 26, 2007 are not subject to a Revisit User Fee.  However, any revisits occurring between September 19, 2007 (the date of the published final rule) and December 25, 2007 (the last date of the Continuing Resolution) are still subject to a revisit user fee assessment.  Providers or suppliers who had revisit surveys conducted between September 19, 2007 and December 25, 2007, and have not already received an assessment notice can expect notices in the mail anywhere between present date and the end of the 2008 Fiscal Year.  See additional information concerning the end of the revisit user fee program in the "downloads" section below.

On 2/29/08, CMS published interim final (and last for 2008) rule #4 with comment (CMS-2278-IFC4) period that implements the next continuation of the Revisit User Fee Program for Medicare Survey and Certification activities into fiscal year 2008. On 12/18/07, CMS published another interim final rule with comment (CMS 2278-IFC2) period that implements the next continuation of the Revisit User Fee Program for Medicare Survey and Certification activities into fiscal year 2008.  See the "downloads" section below for a copy of the rule.

On 10/31/07, CMS published an interim final rule with comment (CMS 2278-IFC) period that implements the continuation of the Revisit User Fee Program for Medicare Survey and Certification activities into fiscal year 2008.  See the "downloads" section below for a copy of the rule.

On 9/19/07, CMS published the final Revisit User Fee Program regulation (CMS-2268-F).  See the "downloads" section below for a copy of the final regulation.  

Paying your Revisit User Fee - CMS is using a bill pay system.  Providers or suppliers who are assessed a fee will receive a notice in the mail which will include the amount of the assessed revisit fee and the revisit survey for which the fee is assessed.  Included in the notice is the obligation that payment is expected to be remitted within 30 days of the receipt of notice.  Methods of payment may include credit card, electronic fund transfer, check, or money order.  All necessary details will be included within the coupon notice, including to whom to direct questions, and payment remittance information.  Effective 12/17/08, providers may make credit card and electronic account transfer payments for Revisit User Fees online via PAY.GOV.  See "Related Links Outside CMS" below.
