A.  How do I find out when AIRS passes over a specific area?

Our instrument is on the Aqua satellite, a sun-synchronous satellite
in polar orbit which crosses the equator in a northbound direction at
local standard time of 1:30 PM (southbound at 1:30 AM local time)

You can see overpass predictions for any point on the Earth by
accessing the web site:

http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/MissionControl/overpass.html

and choosing the Aqua spacecraft and specifying a location on the
globe and dates of interest.
