Human Rights Caucus

I am happy to say that the Congressional Human Rights Caucus has become the foremost voice on the issue of human rights. Using the United Nations declaration on Human Rights as a guideline, the Caucus acts to ensure that the right of the individual is of paramount concern on Capitol Hill. The Caucus has recently become a bicameral institution welcome to any member of the House or the Senate. The Caucus regularly holds briefings, which are open to the public, where human rights experts, eye-witnesses and survivors of atrocities address human rights concerns with members of congress.

In briefings, the caucus also welcomes leaders from a variety of nations to present their experiences and ideas about human rights. The Caucus works to defend the rights of anyone who has been the victim of religious, political, ethnic or racial persecution in any place in the world. Recent issues that the Caucus has dealt with have been working to stop ethnic genocide, women and children's rights, and "disappearances".
