EU Caucus

As Chairman of the European Union Caucus, I am proud to help further relations between the Europe and the United States of America. The United States played an integral role in rebuilding the Europe as it struggled to overcome the devastation of World War II. The Marshall Plan of 1947 catapulted Europe onto a path of speedy recovery. In 1957 the concept for a European Community, which envisioned economic integration in Europe to the extent that war would henceforth become inconceivable, has come so very far.

Today, twenty five European countries and 450 million people live in states that comprise the European Union. The European union has a robust economy and its own currency. Though America helped to facilitate the birth of a new Europe, relations between the United States and her allies in Europe are at times complex. Therefore, with the help of our Caucus, we hope to ensure that our goals become more closely linked and that our relationship becomes more intimate.
