Congressman Culberson received money for the following projects in the FY2005 appropriations cycle:
$175,000 for the Children’s Nutrition Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine to develop a genotyping facility to identify genetic variations within children that are predisposed to developing obesity.
$775,000 for the City of Houston to improve technology in the Houston Police Department's Crime Laboratory and integrate it with local and national systems.
$2.8 million for the Alliance for NanoHealth for competitive interdisciplinary research projects studying the environmental, economic, social, and ethical aspects of nanotechnology.
$3 million to continue production of single-walled carbon nanotube low-observable superconductive caulks and sealants for use on Stealth aircraft for the Navy.
$525,000 for the Texas Medical Center to study flood control mitigation of Harris Gully which runs underneath the Medical Center.
$50,000 for the Harris County Flood Control District to continue studying improving water flow in Buffalo Bayou from the Addicks and Barker Detention Reservoirs, and accommodating any additional run off resulting from the expansion of I-10.
$1.6 million ($600,000 out of Energy and Water, $1 million out of Labor-HHS-ED) for the Alliance for NanoHealth to construct a clean room at the University of Houston and purchase chemistry laboratory equipment.
$1 million for Rice University to continue building out and equipping a Proteomics Laboratory.
$700,000 for Texas Children’s Hospital to expand their pediatric cardiovascular operation room.
$860,000 for the Harris County Hospital District for the renovation and expansion of Ben Taub’s emergency room.
$360,000 for Memorial Hermann Hospital System for the build out of a “neighborhood health center.”
$37 million for the Houston Airport System to build a new terminal radar approach control (TRACON) to replace the aging, flood prone facility at Bush Intercontinental Airport.
$4 million for the Texas Medical Center to construct a new "Trauma Access Corridor" into the Texas Medical Center's two Level 1 trauma centers.
$500,000 for the Texas Medical Center to design and build a transportation operations center within the Texas Medical Center.
$4.5 million for Houston METRO to build a ramp connecting the Addicks Park & Ride lot directly to the new toll lanes on the Katy Freeway.
