NIFL-ESLers!!!

ESL is a big topic here along the border of Texas and
Mexico. First, there's the NAFTA companies in Mexico. Here, that would
be Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. There are companies that make
everything from seat belts to the printing of books. The management is
usually those who have relocated from a company somewhere in the USA.
And, they drive everyday across the border. The workers are those who
live along the border or have relocated to this area from all parts of
Mexico. Some companies have 10,000 workers. Many of the companies have
corporate offices in Europe, Asia, etc.

A retired Spanish and Portuguese professor from the
University of Texas-Pan American, Dr Gilbert Heartfield, travels to the
NAFTA companies to teach English to the Mexican workers and Spanish to
the management.

Someone who speaks English, Spanish, and another language
and works for the companies is always useful. That peson can
communicate in English with the management, Spanish with the workers,
and German or Japanese, etc with corporate offices in other countries.
And, these have to be those who can communicate in scientific and
business and technological topics related to the corporations.
