It's the "these people" this and "these people" that in this thread that continue to conjure up images of otherness. It is that type of otherness that the Nazis were able to succeed in marginalizing and ultimately exterminating. The mentality is the same, regardless of one's professed intentions. That some ESL educators (especially), who are ostensibly students' frontline advocates, buy into the horrendous "legal" vs. "alien" absurdity, illustrates how well the right has done its job, just as the Nazis had.
