I have the same problem is my classes. As a rule men in other countries ( I know there are exceptions, especially in the Philippines) are the "bread-winners".Thus they tend to look for and find jobs more often than women also because they have worked more often in the past than women, thus have experience. I have questioned my students when they returned after long absences. The men said they had been working. The women replied that they had been out sick or taking care of family members who were. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cynthia E.
