I don't welcome offlist posts from people most of the time unless they are really about something I'm discussing. And yours was an e-mail that asserted some sort of authority and then reproved me. If you wish to reprove me as a member of the list, do so on the list. (2) Advocacy is a part of my life as a teacher, and never will I think it is inappropriate. I don't think one can ever be too 'aggressive' when the issue is something like peace vs. war. O.K., I'm an offensive, aggressive peacemongering peacenik or something--a bit easier to take than threats of physical violence, something that peace advocates face all the time . For the most part when replying to John I was on topic and to the point of the matter being discussed. (3) Also, if I said your response is 'asinine' or called you by a nickname even though I don't know you or something, that would be insulting and not good etiquette. But such vocabulary and tactics were limited to John's posts and were not a part of mine. Charles Jannuzi Fukui, Japan
