Resolution Recognizing Five Year Anniversary of Iraq War Resolution Calls for Withdrawal of US Troops from Iraq
Congressman Wexler has introduced a resolution recognizing the fifth anniversary of the disastrous Iraq War and called for an immediate and safe redeployment of US troops from Iraq. Wexler’s resolution recognizes the enormous cost of the Iraq War on US troops, their families and the entire nation, citing the almost 4,000 US soldiers who have lost their lives, the over 39,000 wounded servicemen and women, and the recent report by The Washington Post indicating that the war is on schedule to cost American tax-payers at least $3 trillion.
Wexler’s resolution also expresses his strong support for Congress to withhold additional funding for the President’s war in Iraq and criticizes the Bush Administration for failing to provide proper care for thousands of American troops returning home from battlefields in Iraq and Afghanistan. Finally, the Wexler resolution expresses strong Congressional support for American service members who have sacrificed greatly in Iraq.
The resolution is available for viewing here.
