Moore joins child advocates

Group asks Congress to consider: “Is It Good for the Children?”

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District – Kansas) today joined Senator Jim Jeffords (I-VT) and representatives from national child advocacy groups to focus greater attention on kids’ issues. The Nation’s Network of Child Care Resource and Referral (NACCRRA) and Partnership for Children of Kansas City, Missouri, asked members of Congress to consider “Is It Good for the Children?” when making legislative decisions.

“Children are obviously America’s future. Providing for their stable upbringing and essential needs should always be among Congress’s top priorities. I am pleased to join NACCRRA and Partnership for Children in focusing the government’s attention on one of my foremost concerns: our kids,” Moore said at a news conference announcing the joint campaign.

NACCRRA and Partnership for Children are collaborating on this project to raise awareness about issues affecting children. The “Is It Good for the Children?” campaign is modeled after a successful effort in the Kansas City metro area to ask all adults to consider the question in their daily lives. After implementing an advocacy program, their polls indicated that 70% of those surveyed were familiar with the “Is It Good for the Children?” question, and 80% said they used the question every day.

Moore has been an outspoken advocate for children during his four years in Congress. Most recently, he collaborated in bringing the Amber Alert child recovery system to the Kansas City metro area and spoke out in favor of medical research to aid children with physical disabilities.

“I have been pleased to see the Partnership for Children’s work in the Kansas City metro area. Raising awareness about issues facing our kids is an admirable goal and I expect great success from the ‘Is It Good for the Children?’ campaign,” Moore said.

The news conference included representatives from NACCRRA and Partnership for Children.
