Moore votes to recognize MidAmerica Nazarene University

Congressional resolution passes after Christian Higher Education Month

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District-KS) voted for House Resolution 300 today to recognize the outstanding contributions of Christian colleges and universities, including MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe.

“MidAmerica Nazarene University is one of the best faith-based universities in the country, and I’m proud it is part of my Congressional district,” Moore said. “The entire nation benefits from the dedication to both scholarship and service MidAmerica graduates bring to workplace.”

MidAmerica Nazarene University is one of the more than 125 Christian colleges belonging to the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities. Other Kansas institutions in the Council include Sterling College in Sterling, Tabor College in Hillsboro and Central Christian College in McPherson.

“I am delighted that Congressman Dennis Moore is cosponsoring this resolution recognizing the impact that Christian colleges and universities have had in shaping American higher education,” said MidAmerica Nazarene University President Richard Spindle.

October was Higher Education Month, and H. Res. 300 “recognizes the benefits from Council institution students and graduates whose faith, values, and morals provide an environment that encourages honesty, trust, respect, and responsibility in the many fields they enter including science, business, education, government, medicine, the arts, and in volunteer community service.”

Representative Pete Hoekstra (R-MI), member of the House Education and Workforce Committee, introduced H. Res. 300 on June 26, 2003. Moore was one of 26 bipartisan cosponsors to pay tribute to Christian colleges and universities for their commitment to quality higher education.

MidAmerica Nazarene University is a comprehensive liberal arts university offering undergraduate and selected professional and graduate degrees. Sponsored by the North Central Region of the International Church of the Nazarene, the university is committed to serving the church and its global mission.
