The Blue Gargoyle Family Learning Project, located on the south side of
Chicago in Hyde Park, is currently seeking a Coordinator. The Family
Learning Project is a small but intensive Even Start Family Literacy
Program.
Here is the job announcement:
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT:
Coordinator - Family Literacy Program
Blue Gargoyle Youth Service Center, Family Learning Project; Chicago
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
? BA/BS in education or related field
? Experience in early childhood education, or adult education, or family
support
? Experience working with at-risk families
? Able to work well with adults, young adults, and young children; able to
get along well with people of a variety of socioeconomic and educational
backgrounds
? Good writing skills
? Able to work as a team member and independently
? Computer literate (Microsoft Word; Windows)
Desirable
? MA/MS in education or related field
? Experience in family literacy
? Teaching/group-leading experience with adult learners or parents
? Grant-writing experience
? Experience using databases and spread sheet programs
RESPONSIBILITIES
? Supervise the Family Learning Project Staff (i.e. Assistant Coordinator
and Nursery/Parent-Liaisons), hold regular staff meetings and
provide/arrange other staff development opportunities
? Manage programming including early childhood education, parent education,
parent child activities, home visits, field trips, and some case management
? Assist in assessment and evaluation; contribute to program development
? Maintain existing community partnerships with two local schools, teen
parenting programs, agencies, organizations and businesses (and establish
new community links)
? Help plan and implement recruiting efforts
? Grant writing and report writing
