Want a place with clean air, away from the hustle and bustle of the city? Pack a picnic and head for Mark Twain National Forest! Whether it's a quiet picnic for two, or a family reunion for dozens, you'll find picnic areas sure to suit your needs in a variety of areas.

Listed below are sites which have Picnicking facilities. The colored (*) with a number indicates, which general map area the site location can be found. Click on the site name to find more details about the site or click on the map section to view all facilities in that area. The available facilities key table is listed below.

Sites are on a First come First serve basis except the Pavilion.
Most picnic areas on Mark Twain National Forest assess a $2 per vehicle parking and day-use fee. Less-developed sites are free.

Some recreation areas offer pavilions. Charges vary. Most pavilions can be reserved in advance through Recreation.gov . Make your reservation online, or toll-free by calling 877-444-6777 (TDD: 877-833-6777) or International: 518-885-3639.
