Poplar Bluff Ranger DistrictClick here or on the image to view the site photo gallery Located at the southeastern edge of the Ozarks, where the forest starts to give way to the Mississippi River lowlands, Poplar Bluff District offers two developed recreation areas, hiking and riding trails, fishing from barrier-free piers, and boating. The wild turkey population on Mark Twain National Forest has been brought back from virtual extinction in the 1930s. Two walk-in turkey hunting areas provide opportunities in Spring for seeking out that most elusive game bird.
