I searched the web yesterday and came up with some possibilities, but I know that those books written specifically for low literate adults are often not well written. Librarians often suggest reading award-winning early adolescent books. I have recently read and enjoyed: Hachet, Holes, and Bud, Not Buddy. All Newbery winners. -- Sarah Beaman-Jones Family Literacy Specialist LIFT-Missouri 500 Northwest Plaza, Suite 601 St. Louis, MO 63047 1-800-729-4443 http://lift-missouri.org
