POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:
FT Early Childhood Education Program Director

The Apple Early Literacy Preschool, an innovative full day pre-school
serving 4- & 5-year-old children, located in Southwest Washington DC, is
seeking a qualified early childhood education professional for a full time
Director position.

The Preschool's mission is to ensure that every child is ready to succeed
academically when he/she enters first grade.  Early literacy is taught via a
research-based curriculum, which includes literature and literacy skills
components.  This is a comprehensive literacy and language-focused program.
It also includes strong math and science components.  In addition, the
program integrates art, music, play and a wide variety of child-initiated
experiences to fully address the emotional, social, and cognitive needs of
the children served.

We seek an energetic individual who is dedicated to ensuring successful
implementation of the preschool curriculum while managing assessments of
children, providing support for instructional implementation to the
preschool faculty and working closely with a team of early childhood
education specialists guiding the development and implementation of the
preschool curriculum.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

Provide instructional implementation leadership to preschool faculty.
- Communicate with preschool curriculum leader about progress in
implementing comprehensive early literacy curriculum.
- Administer early childhood assessments (pre and post testing).
- Develop positive relationships with parents of children attending
preschool and provide
guidance to parents about how to support their children's learning.

Qualifications:  The ideal candidate holds a master's degree in early
childhood education or a related field.  Previous experience in an early
childhood education setting is essential.  Or, a bachelor's degree in early
childhood education, or a related field, and at least 3 years experience in
an early education setting.  If degree is in a related field, preference is
for candidates to have 12 or more credit hours of study in early childhood
education or at least 2 years experience in an early childhood setting.

Start Date: ASAP  Salary: Highly competitive, depends upon education &
experience.
