Moore completes fact-finding mission with NATO allies

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District – Kansas) today returned from a fact-finding mission in Europe with his parliamentary counterparts around the globe as part of his duties as a member of a select congressional delegation.

The trip included meetings in Belgium, France, Slovakia, Turkey and the United Kingdom where participants were briefed on an array of security, political and economic matters.

“Diplomacy must always be our nation’s first priority when attempting to resolve conflicts,” Moore said. “I was proud to represent our nation as part of this congressional delegation. The meetings provided an important forum for discussing how nations can cooperate diplomatically.”

In Brussels, Moore met with legislators from other NATO nations, as well as the permanent representatives to the North Atlantic Council, NATO’s governing body. Meetings in Ankara were held as Turkish leaders negotiated conditions with the U.S. for deploying troops in Turkey.

Moore served as a member of the House delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, an inter-parliamentary organization of legislators from the member countries of the NATO Alliance as well as 19 Associate members. Delegates to the Assembly are nominated by their respective legislative bodies.
