Dear Debbie,

We use the Diabetes Home Video Guide: Skills for Self-Care that comes in
Spanish and English. It's the best video available for low literacy
culturally diverse audiences. It includes lots of real people and how they
cope with diabetes. It covers nutrition, exercise, monitoring, medications,
pattern management, problem solving, lifestyle changes and emotions, and
maintaining your good health. We use this video in our diabetes self-care
kit for a low literacy audience to help them learn self-care. My company
offers self-care kits on diabetes and 9 other chronic illnesses that are
taylored to limited literacy populations -- healthcare providers perscribe
the kits and we send them out. Let me know if you would like a sample of
the video to review.

Does anyone know of a diabetes education video appropriate for low literacy
audiences that can be readily obtained, either free or at whatever cost?
There is a flurry of activity in my state trying to create such a resource,
and I'm thinking somebody else surely has already invented this wheel.
Thanks, Debbie
