Dear List Members,

I'm pleased to announce the availability of a new research brief
entitled "Plain Language and Patient Education: A summary of current
research".

This four-page synthesis is the first in a series of "Research Briefs on
Health Communication" that The Centre for Literacy of Quebec will be
publishing as part of an ongoing Health Literacy Project with the McGill
University Health Centre (MUHC) in Montreal, Quebec.

The series aims to digest the key findings of research projects that have
formally evaluated or assessed the impact of using alternative (adapted)
communication media/methods in patient education. In addition to plain
language, we will be publishing briefs on the use of audiotapes, videotapes,
interactive media, and image-based materials.

Until then, the plain language brief (available in HTML and PDF) can be found
on The Centre for Literacy's homepage (scroll to the bottom for links to all
of our Health Literacy Project reports).

We look forward to your feedback.

Sincerely,
