IN RESPONSE, PLEASE August 21, 2007
The Commission approved a final rule amending its regulations to require documents in NRC adjudications to be electronically submitted through the agency’s Electronic Information Exchange (EIE) to the E-Submittal system, subject to the changes in the attachment. Following incorporation of these changes, the Federal Register notice should be reviewed by the Rules Review and Directives Branch in the Office of Administration and forwarded to the Office of the Secretary for signature and publication.
The staff should keep the Commission currently informed on its progress in resolving larger, more universal information technology (IT) issues regarding the use of the electronic information exchange (EIE) and the use of digital certificates by March, 2008 and sooner if possible. If additional resources are required to meet or exceed the March deadline, the staff should inform the Commission as soon as possible. Attachment: Changes to the Federal Register notice
