The University at Buffalo is on a mission...to build a world-class workforce. In an effort to become one of the top research universities in the country, we have aggressively implemented plans to grow by as much as 40% by the year 2020.

A bigger UB means new jobs and new businesses, importing wealth and working professionals to our area, providing opportunities for our young people, revitalizing downtown Buffalo, and building a prosperous future for the Buffalo-Niagara region. You can join us in our path to prominence.

The University at Buffalo was rated very highly as a “Top College to Work For 2008” by the Chronicle of Higher Education in a national survey of the quality of the academic workplace.

UB was ranked in the top 5 in eight different ranking categories among large research universities of 2,500 or more employees including the categories of: collaborative governance, compensation and benefits, tenure clarity and process, health insurance, housing assistance programs, career development, research and scholarship, vacation or time off and post-retirement benefits.
